Urn type fountains can easily be called the neo classical fountains. The fountains have urns as water directing medium. They are basically of two types tiered and sculptured.
The tiered fountains have top tier in the shape of an urn in which the fountain is fixed. The sculptured urn type fountains have human figures holding the urns and water flowing through them. Tiered fountains exist in all styles but the sculptured ones are typically Italian or other European.
The tiered fountains with simple polished or rough finish or not much of carving can be in hard stones like granite and lime stone but the more intricate and stylish carved fountains are in softer varieties like slate, marble or soap stone.
